Stan-X Mission
To train teachers and support students who are underrepresented in science, by engaging them in genuine discovery through authentic experiments that build mastery and contribute knowledge to the scientific community.
“The Stan-X program is where I began my research experience, and now, almost 5 years later, I plan to continue exploring my love for research [following 4 years of undergraduate research]. My post-graduation plans are to find a role in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry within a research & development team.””
In 2011, Professor Seung Kim and his Stanford-based team, with faculty at Phillips Exeter Academy (New Hampshire), partnered to engineer a science course base.
Meet Seung Kim, MD, PhD, a professor of medicine and developmental biology at Stanford Medicine studying pancreatic biology and insulin-producing cells to advance regenerative approaches for diabetes. Hear what still excites him about being a scientist — and why you’ll find Elvis Presley on the walls of his lab.
